According to relevant science popularization content in January, the 2026 F1 racing season will see a significant change in the power unit. In the new regulations, the thermal energy recovery motor has been officially removed. In order to make up for the power gap, the output power of the kinetic energy recovery motor has been greatly increased from about 120 kilowatts in current racing cars to 350 kilowatts (equivalent to about 475 horsepower), which makes the power output ratio of the racing car's internal combustion engine to the motor close to 5:5. In addition, the new regulations also include the design of an active aerodynamic system and a manual overtaking mode to adapt to the electrical characteristics of the new motor, with energy management becoming a key factor in the competition.
